Although the message of Christmas is one of hope and promise, it’s also a season ripe with grief and longing for many people.  The days are colder, the nights are longer, and the weight of expectations can be overwhelming. For some, the empty seat at the dinner table becomes all too real again as others talk of celebrating with family and friends.  On December 21 -- the longest night of the year and the Winter Solstice -- join us as we hear & share readings and music that acknowledge God’s presence is with those who mourn and struggle -- and that God’s Word comes to shine light into our darkness.  Whether it is grief, incessant longing, or the need to step away from the expectations and find a sacred space of quiet, join us.

Welcome to St. Paul's, Piney!
Welcome to the website of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Piney Parish.  We are grateful that you've taken a moment to learn a bit about us. Although we have been in Southern Maryland since 1752,  we believe God is still speaking and moving in the world today.  We don't claim to have all the answers, nor are we here to tell you how and what to think.  Yet, we are convinced that as we gather to worship, pray, and walk alongside one another as a community, we experience a foretaste of the unending love and peace awaiting us all.  It would be our privilege to be with you on the journey.
