All baptized Christians are called and empowered to do God’s work. In our baptismal covenant we commit to: “proclaim[ing] by word and example the good news of God in Christ" and “[serving] Christ in all persons, loving our neighbor, as yourself.” One way you can do this is by ministering as a Lay Eucharistic Visitor (LEV). LEVs are sent in teams of two from the church to administer the elements (the consecrated bread and wine) to members of the congregation who are unable to be present among us due to illness or hardship. They can also provide relief to caregivers and a listening ear when needed. This is a life-changing, holy ministry of love and service. No special skills are needed, only a desire to be a beacon of God’s grace. Each team of two people is assigned one person to visit on a monthly basis. I invite you to consider serving in this ministry.

If you are interested or want to learn more, please attend an information and training session on Friday, May 29 at 6:00 p.m. This training is a prerequisite for licensure in the Diocese of Washington.

Welcome to St. Paul's, Piney!
Welcome to the website of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Piney Parish.  We are grateful that you've taken a moment to learn a bit about us. Although we have been in Southern Maryland since 1752,  we believe God is still speaking and moving in the world today.  We don't claim to have all the answers, nor are we here to tell you how and what to think.  Yet, we are convinced that as we gather to worship, pray, and walk alongside one another as a community, we experience a foretaste of the unending love and peace awaiting us all.  It would be our privilege to be with you on the journey.

Happy Birthday, Church!

On May 24, we will celebrate the feast of Pentecost.  For Christians, Pentecost concludes the great fifty days of Easter and celebrates the descent of God’s Spirit upon Jesus’ disciples.  It also marks the beginning of the church as described in Acts 2.  To add to the festive spirit of the day, the church will be decorated in red, orange, and yellow, and hope you will be, too!
